On a pleasant tuesday afternoon . . .

Normally the narrations begin with the title as ‘A fine sunday morning’ or ‘A fine rainy day’ for a pleasant story. But things has made me to title this post with a fine tuesday afternoon. Yes, the job shifts are taking a toll on my personal life. This evening brought me nostalgia about my pleasant child hood and my future dreams.

On a fine tuesday afternoon, I am sitting in a chair outside my home trying to catch the magic of soft drizzling on me. It is raining pleasantly in a classy coimbatore weather. I see the ripples of water going round and round, bringing the nsotalgia I told. I am sitting with a pleasant novel in my hand, ‘Eleven Minutes’ by Paul Coelho, the book composed my dreams. The day has not been great for me, as it has started to question the choice I had made some months ago. I would not say it that was the easiest of the choices you make in your life. I had in my hand, the two options for career, land in a IT job and replace my dad in his business.

The arguments for both choices were pretty equal. For the first choice being, as I told it was my dream career, I had my passion for computers right from the time I had knowledge about computers on Grade 7, besides the IT industry was booming well, all my friends pursued the same path after college (well, this is a weak point), you lead a settled life (monthly salary, no risks I thought, tension less unlike the business gamble). The second choice has equal arguments too that I can replace my dad soon after taking over my dad’s concern ( a small scale spinning unit), give his rest for his looong tiresome days (he was 18 when he started working and still he works, it s 38 years my dear), stay close to the family as always (which is a dream for me now and by family I mean all the relatives too, it is a much bonded group we have in here, CBE people may know well I hope), and you have your business in hand, no need to bow to anything except for love.

I made my first choice as I had shown a few interest towards textile field right from my Grade12 (I chose EEE not Textile tech in PSG Tech famous for its Textile course), and the running of the mill has not shown much scope (it was bad when I made the choice, now from bad to worse). My father has accomplished his dream of being a entreuprener (what the heckof spelling here), and owning a spinning mill, and my parents in the first hand pushing me not to continue this business and opt for the IT job.

I made my choice.

Now things are getting tough here back home, though I do my best to give my best financial help for their well being and emotional support. Thats the max I can do now wothout taking a frastic change in my choice. The various daily works and the labour tensions (well, I really cant list that here, to make it simple – in IT terms the attrition rate here would be as good as 50% – guess the scenario). Well, dont please kid by giving the idea of keeping an assistant or a manager. The situation back here is all the assistants we keep give added tension by taking the labourers from our concern when they leave of the company, and to make it worse, they make a agreement as simple as this. The labourers give them a part of their salary every day for their inaction in work not be questioned. We cant watch them close as of 24*7. And my father is a gentle person, with a pleasant heart, not the kind of beating and things happening in other concerns around. I am proud of his character, but this won be suitable here, unfortunately. He is exhausted now I can see, but yet uncomplaining. He hides his feelings to himself.

Well, my dad has did his part of showing me the "Road to be walked upon". When will I show the same to a person who is a candle for me giving his light. I am determined to light myself soon WELL before the candle fades away. But time is a cruel warden I hope, it doesn’t allow you to resue the prisoner for sentiments.  I hear someone saying, "Actions speak louder than words". Buddy, I have no choice but to wait for minimum of few (3-4) years before I get settled here., as I dont want to get moved for emotions and downgrade my long term goals.

I dream a end to all this soon, a relief for my dad with weekly temple trips for him, a wonderful day daily with my mom, a weekly trip to meet my cousins, a bi-monthly trip with family to some temples, a bi-yearly vacation somewhere. One with friends, another with family. Oru thennandhoppu in my thottam, a warm new, old style farm house. A new classic home.

This is not a great desire what I have. I hope the reality be more than imagination.

Love, CK.

Hi all

It s becoming my routine to tell a story about me getting late for updating my blog. So I ll leave as such this time. This post, we ll take a look at the new version of iPhone and latest iPhone Killers.

iPhone 3G

(Click on the images to enlarge)

Apple had created a buzz and a revolution when it released the iPhone first version earlier., though the phone had many glitches like no 3G, GPS, Bluetooth, Camera defects, etc.

The buzz is not any less when it released the next version with features such as 3G, GPS with loaded maps, Support of Microsoft Exchange, Visual Voicemail, the fastest browser Safari, Wifi enabled, built in Google and Yahoo search, 3.5″ display to view videos, added applications, view of Youtube videos made easy, slightly light weight compared to older version. The new iPhone features are marked in bold above. Not here that Bluetooth is still not made available. The top pick of the new version is that, the 8GB version would cost 199$ and 16Gb version would cost 299$. But I am afraid that is a special price given for operator AT&T which releases the Apple iPhone worldwide.

In India, Airtel and Vodafone have started marketing and asking users to book the iPhone (http://www.airtel.in/iphone3g), but I am afraid it would be much more than the (Rs. 8000 – 199$) tag expected. Even I have booked the phone in Airtel, and I cant wait much long to see the features which are supported in India and its price tag in India.

Samsung Omnia

Samsung has released Omnia, its reply to the iPhone 3G, with loads of features as equal as the iPhone, Omnia also features a 5Mp Camera. Needless to say the phone would cost us dearly.

The phone has a 3.2″ display and have good video and audio playback capabilities. Visit http://omnia.samsungmobile.com/ for more. The pricing is not announced yet and the phone will be available in Europe in July.

Nokia Tube

There has been rumours or hot news from symbian-freak.com that Nokia is going to release its version of iPhone killer. The Nokia Tube. The Tube is expected to have a 16M TFT display with 360 x 640 pixels resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. The size of the display will be somewhere between 3 and 3.5-inches. The display will offer a tactile feedback but sadly, won’t have multi touch function like the iPhone. No other details are available about the phone.

Well, that s it for now. Catch you in next post, hopefully….. Sooon…..

Hi all

Long since an idea has been pestering me to write an article on this.  I could not find much time to update the blog..

India – China – US.

We see both countries India and China, galloping each other in the race for the future super power after US. Now though US manintains its dominance over the world, US depends on China and India on a large scale., be it for minute toys, automobiles, food items, software industry, the backbone of every other industry (coz of its well versed e-governence), spirituality ;) , medical toursim, etc. One of the strategy of US to maintain its control over the world is to develop the techno-nano-blah balh weapons and make the world to see it with an AW!! like when we see the 007 films. They also make a huge amount

http://www.globalissues.org/Geopolitics/ArmsTrade/Spending.asp

The above link gives a sample that the military expenditure around the world. Around 46% of the world military expenditure is by US and 80% of the expenditure rise is due to 2006. Now though the figures are for 2006, I hope the situation might have been worse now for the Iraq war and its under hand help to Pak.

The US – Pak – India – China relation is really a twist and tangle,

  • US gives arms for Pak to eliminate and fight with terrorists ;)
  • Pak rather gives the arms to terrorsits and militants to fight with India
  • US advises Pak to support them to find Osama
  • US avises Pak to support India’s fight against militants :P
  • Pak plays a double game with militants and US
  • US makes a statement that Osama is in Pak
  • US prez Bush supports outgoing prez Mush over issues now

Finally whoever wins, India is affected.

  • India uses its military might and fights hard to develop a missile or advance a missile technology.
  • The next day, Pak releases a new missile… Now this becomes tricky.
  • There is rumour that China has sold the missile to Pak.
  • US doesn’t like the growth of China over it.  It needs support of India to tacke China.
  • Hence, US strateggically makes the 123 agreement with India, making India to fall in a spider web.
  • Due to the agreement, India acheived nothing till date., the agreement has not shown promise, India spoiled its relation with Iran, Russia.
  • US gained by making India to vote against Iran in the UNO and making India a partner to fight against China.

See now what s the point, who are the allies and who are the wolves…

Hello World,

By chance, today I got an audio footage containing Swami Vivekanandha’s speech on spirituality.

I am not a  eligible person to rate the speech but, it was like a treat hearing to the speech. You would not really know how the 30 minute speech made me stick to the seat. Initially it may bore for you., if you are interested kindly give your heart to the speech and listen.

I hereby share a link containing the audio.

Feel the difference.

Back to the design posts…

I was really amazed when I saw the design of the proposed Songjiang Hotel in China. World construction major ATKINS has won the bid for constructing this hotel.

The hotel is to be constructed on a 100 meter deep quarry. The hotel boasts of 400 beds with conference room , club facilities, sports and even adventure sports.  The design engineers say that the design makes the hotel unaffected by any climate and weather calamities.

Though the design looks like the construction may takes tens of years to complete., the design is to be complete by 2009 end.

A tit bit finally. Wanna be a tiger rider ?

Interesting, isn’t it?
